Arts and Culture

Learn about the Cleveland Foundation's  "Creative Fusion" international artist-in-residence program .

The Cleveland Foundation’s proactive support of arts and culture has two main facets:

  • We work to ensure that our mid-sized arts organizations remain financially sustainable. The foundation’s arts advancement program, designed to strengthen these organizations, recently completed its three-year cycle. Read the evaluation and outcomes of the program.
  • The foundation also concerns itself with issues that broadly affect local arts institutions:
    • We contributed to the establishment of public funding of the arts in Cuyahoga County by working vigorously for the passage of Issue 18, a countywide tax that generates operating revenue for arts and cultural organizations.
    • We are helping arts organizations engage in effective joint marketing efforts.
    • We are interested in projects that provide greater access to the arts and strengthen the capacity of arts organizations to operate sustainably and with excellence
    • We are partnering with other local funders and with Young Audiences – through a Ford Foundation initiative and the ICARE program – to reintroduce the arts into the education of children in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.
